Helen has dedicated herself in recent years to caring for the victims of some of the world’s most devastating humanitarian crises. Helen is currently working at the Gold Coast University Hospital, she remains active in assisting other volunteers wanting to go over to Greece and volunteer in refugee camps. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Helen Zahos travelled to Greece from Australia to volunteer as a Nurse during the refugee crisis. This interview gives a personal account of what she experienced whilst there including a boat accident where 27 adults and 11 children drowned, and being mistaken for a police officer and being hit to the face with a metal pole during the first border closures during a riot. Interview is in Greek.
